Ingredients:
- 1 16-ounce loaf of Italian bread or French bread
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large cloves garlic, smashed and minced
- 1 heaping tablespoon of freshly chopped (or dried) parsley
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Cut the loaf in half horizontally.
- Mix the butter, garlic, and parsley together in a small bowl. Spread the mixture over the two bread halves
- Place the bread on a baking pan, and heat in a 350 °F oven for 10 minutes.
- If using parmesan, remove the pan from the oven briefly and sprinkle the cheese, before returning it to the highest rack. Broil on high for 2-3 minutes until the edges of the bread begin to toast and cheese bubbles.
- Remove from oven, let cool, and use a bread knife to cut into 1-inch slices. Serve immediately.
